2024 Pre-Conference Institute
Monday, July 8 & Tuesday, July 9 

The 2024 International ACAC Pre-Conference Institute offers mid-career members and members at the beginning of a career or new role an opportunity to strengthen specific knowledge sets and professional relationships in a smaller, intentional setting before the conference begins. While some content-based sessions will be pre-recorded for viewing prior to arrival, the Institute will take place fully in-person beginning Monday morning at Western University, so participants should plan to arrive in London, Ontario on Sunday, July 7. 

This event will include meaningful engagement in an in-person setting for those who are traveling to Canada. 


New Professionals (0-3 years experience in current role) 

This Institute is designed for members new to their role as an international university representative or international secondary school counselor who wish to deepen their skill sets, knowledge bases, and professional networks. Topics include: applying to destinations worldwide, evaluating credentials, presenting and reviewing recommendation letters, paying for college, building a professional network, etc.

Mid-Career Professionals

This Institute is designed for members with substantial experience as international university representatives or secondary school counselors who wish to augment their professional practice in a tailored learning setting. Topics include: management, career advancement, presenting data, best practices for effective partnerships, etc.

*New for 2024* Ethics and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

This new Institute is designed for members to deepen their approach toward ethical and inclusive practices in international and multicultural settings. Topics include: unpacking NACAC’s Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admissions, discussions on ethical dilemmas, recognizing our own bias and counteracting stereotypes, and creating inclusive teams. No matter what your role is, you will sharpen your skills in navigating challenging discussions, reevaluating your approaches, fostering trust, and becoming a stronger advocate for students, colleagues, and your institution.

  • Creating school profiles and transcripts or reviewing them

Ethics and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Approaching ethical and inclusive practice from an international context
  • Approaching ethical dilemmas in our work
  • Creating inclusive teams
  • From guidance to practice - the NACAC Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admissions 
  • Recognizing bias and counteracting stereotypes

Standard Registration (April 18-June 3): $225 USD

The Pre-Conference Institute is offered to International ACAC Conference attendees ​only. Members must register as part of their conference registration. In order to maintain the benefits of a more intimate pre-conference experience, registration capacity is limited and will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis.  We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting professional development experience.
